Summary   Provides overall supervision/implementation of the strength and conditioning program for minor league players. Evaluates, motivates, and educates athletes in all aspects as it relates to performance enhancement and durability. Assists with nutritional evaluation for players at the assigned minor league affiliate club.

Spring Training:

  • Supervise all strength & conditioning workouts
  • Assist Major League staff and Coordinator – Strength & Conditioning with all performance testing and supervision of strength and conditions programs for major league and minor league players
  • Make sure workout logs are completed
  • Assist athletic trainers and physical therapist with rehabilitation programs, as needed
  • Conduct team stretches, warm-up, agility, weightlifting and running programs
  • Keep weight room clean and organized at all times
  • Give assisted, individual stretches
  • Assist with rotator cuff program


  • Implement and oversee strength and conditioning program consistent with principles of Milwaukee Brewers Strength & Conditioning
  • Set aside time to work individually with players who need assistance
  • Always supervise all workouts, no exceptions
  • Make sure general and individual workout programs are completed and relevant data is collected
  • Report any problems/injuries to athletic trainers, coaches, coordinator
  • Communicate daily with manager, coaches and athletic trainer
  • Assist athletic trainers with rehab programs as needed
  • Organize and set-up team weightlifting times on the road
  • Knowledge in performance nutrition and NSF certified for sport program in support of education and information at the discretion the sports nutrition department. Work with Brewers Nutritionist/Dietitian to provide proper nutritional counseling to any players in accordance with the Milwaukee Brewers Nutritional Guidelines
  • Report and record any supplement abuse (steroids, recreational drugs, etc.) immediately to the Coordinator – Strength & Conditioning
  • Keep attendance log up to date, no exceptions
  • Report to Coordinator – Strength & Conditioning regularly giving summary of overall program issues
  • Track and log necessary body mass and or body comp information as needed.
  • Responsible for monthly player reports
  • Keep weight room clean and organized at all times
  • Assist with monitoring the nutritional value of meals/snacks provided in the clubhouse
  • Assist with implementation of rotator cuff program

Off-Season Camps and Remote Training Content:

  • Check in with players regarding their offseason training and answer any questions regarding the Brewers off-season training program. Program summaries, relevant player software onboarding, and remote coaching assignments.
  • Implement and supervise training sessions at the Arizona Complex during off season programs
  • Create and implement video content on the strength & conditioning website
  • Provide educational information for the strength & conditioning website
  • Assist in any research projects as assigned by the Player Performance Department
  • May be included on webinar/zoom projects with strength and conditioning staff to develop new policies/procedures, ideas, philosophies, research articles as it relates to professional baseball

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must possess the ability to motivate and inspire high level athletes
  • Must possess the skills necessary to evaluate the athlete’s levels of physical preparedness, movement efficacy, and effort levels
  • Must possess the critical thinking skills and knowledge necessary to develop and modify programs for athletes
  • Must possess sound communication skills

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have CSCS credentialing from the NSCA, as well as RSCC if working at the AAA or AA level (as it pertains to professional baseball)
  • CEU Credits are required to keep certification current and must be approved by MiLB Coordinator and Director of Strength and Conditioning prior to registration of CEU courses

Computer Skills

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Other computer capabilities required to update websites, submit online reporting and other basic computer related tasks.


Other Skills and Abilities

  • Requires ability to adjust and adapt on the fly in a timely and professional manner
  • Provide top customer service environment to players, coaches, front office, and fellow staff members
  • Need to be a motivator to all players
  • Need to be able to find ways to get the most physically out of all players

Language Skills

Bi-Lingual a plus (Spanish, English). Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 100 pounds. In specific instances, the employee must be able to move and/or spot athletes moving up to 500 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, which may include heat, cold and various forms of precipitation. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Requires travel as assigned for all road games, meetings and seminars.


Work Hours

During Spring Training and during the baseball season, this position requires 80-90 hours per week; off-season it requires 15-30 hours per week. Residence in Phoenix Arizona during off season.

In addition to in-season availability, must also be available for Arizona Offseason Programs or early spring training reporting at the direction of the Dir-Strength and Conditioning, the Major League Strength and Conditioning Coach and/or the Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.
