Dominican Republic Strength & Conditioning Specialist

Job Locations -San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic


Summary   Provides overall supervision and implementation of the strength & conditioning program for minor league players at the Dominican Republic complex. Evaluates, motivates, and educates athletes in all aspects as it relates to performance enhancement and durability. Assists with nutritional evaluation for players at the assigned minor league affiliate club. The position requires residing in the Dominican Republic during their championship season and off-season programs.


Spring Training:

  • Supervise all strength & conditioning workouts
  • Assist major league staff and Coordinator – Minor League Strength & Conditioning with all performance testing and supervision of strength and conditions programs for major league and minor league players
  • Provide assisted, individual stretches
  • Ensure workout logs are completed
  • Assist athletic trainers and physical therapist with rehabilitation programs, as needed
  • Conduct team stretches, warm-up, agility, weight lifting and running programs
  • Maintain weight room clean and organized at all times
  • Assist with rotator cuff program


  • Implement and oversee strength and conditioning program as designed by Coordinator – Strength & Conditioning
  • Dedicate time to work individually with players who need assistance
  • Supervise all workouts at all times, no exceptions
  • Ensure workout cards are completed
  • Report any problems/injuries to athletic trainers, coaches, coordinator
  • Communicate daily with manager, coaches and athletic trainer
  • Assist athletic trainers with rehab programs, as needed
  • Organize and set-up team weight lifting times on the road
  • Provide NSF educational information and updates to players
  • Provide proper nutritional counseling to any players in accordance with the Milwaukee Brewers Nutritional Guidelines
  • Report and record any supplement abuse (steroids, recreational drugs, etc.) immediately to the Coordinator – Strength & Conditioning
  • Maintain attendance log up to date, no exceptions
  • Report to Coordinator – Strength & Conditioning weekly giving summary of overall program issues
  • Conduct team weigh-ins every 2 weeks
  • Responsible for monthly player reports to Coordinator – Strength & Conditioning
  • Keep weight room clean and organized at all times
  • Monitor the nutritional value of meals/snacks provided in the clubhouse
  • Continuous evaluation of all player’s physical development at Dominican Republic complex
  • Assist with implementation of rotator cuff program
  • Provide corrective exercise programs for players based on spring training assessments and continuous evaluations of players’ deficiencies
  • Mandatory attendance is required for the following:
  • All meetings by Coordinator – Strength & Conditioning, Manager or Front Office Personnel

Off-Season Camps:

  • Bi-monthly off season phone calls to players, with recording to the Brewers off-season website
  • Implement and supervise training sessions at the Dominican Republic complex during off season programs: DR Instructional League and DR Winter Camps
  • Create and implement video content on the strength & conditioning website
  • Provide educational information for the strength and conditioning website
  • Assist in any research projects as assigned by the Medical Department
  • Monthly webinar/Skype projects with strength and conditioning staff to develop new policies/procedures, ideas, philosophies, research articles as it relates to professional baseball


Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be FMS certified. Must have CSCS credentialing from the NSCA, as well as RSCC if working at the AAA or AA level (as it pertains to professional baseball). CEU Credits are required to keep certification current and must be approved by Dir-Medical Ops prior to registration of CEU courses.

Computer Skills

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Other computer capabilities required to update websites, submit online reporting and other basic computer related tasks.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Requires ability to adjust and adapt on the fly in a timely and professional manner
  • Need to be a motivator to all players
  • Need to be able to find ways to get the most physically out of all players

Language Skills

Bilingual Spanish skills are beneficial.  Willingness to develop their English skills before coming to the USA. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Hours

In addition to in-season availability, must also be available for Arizona Offseason Programs, DR Instructional League, winter program, or early spring training reporting at the direction of the Dir-Medical Ops, the Major League Strength and Conditioning Coach and/or the Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.
